What’s Next After Finding the Name Sawomi?

When I finally found the name Sawomi for my brand, something shifted inside me.

It wasn’t just a name. It was a direction. A promise. A reminder that no matter how big the dream becomes, I must never forget my roots.

On Sawomi.in, our previous blog shared the story of how we found the name Sawomi. But what came next was even more important — defining what Sawomi truly stands for.

The Moment of Realization

After deciding the name, I started researching other websites and brands in the handloom and textile industry. I noticed something that honestly disturbed me.

Many products labeled as “handloom” were actually machine-made.

Some machine-made products were even priced higher than authentic handwoven pieces.

Now, pricing is personal. Every brand has its own strategy. But calling something handmade when it isn’t? That felt wrong.

Handloom is not just fabric. It is:

  • Time
  • Skill
  • Generations of craftsmanship
  • The rhythm of hands, not machines

And when that truth gets hidden behind marketing, customers get misled.

That’s when the real question hit me:

How do I make people aware of what’s real and what’s fake?

Building a Handloom Brand With Honesty

I didn’t just want to sell products.

I wanted to build a transparent handloom brand — one that shows the real process, the real effort, and the real artisans behind every thread.

If Sawomi was going to exist, it had to stand for:

  • Authentic handloom products
  • Ethical craftsmanship
  • Transparent processes
  • Respect for artisans
  • Pride in Indian roots

I knew awareness was the key. But how?

The Idea: A 90 Days Brand Building Challenge

One day, while sitting at work, an idea clicked.

I come to work every day anyway.

Why not document it?

Why not show people the real handloom process instead of just talking about it?

That’s how the idea of a 90 Days Brand Building Challenge was born.

For 90 days straight, I decided to:

  • Record daily videos
  • Show the actual weaving process
  • Share behind-the-scenes moments
  • Talk honestly about fabrics
  • Educate people about the difference between handloom and machine-made

No filters.

No fake promises.

Just reality.

Showing the Real vs Fake Difference

Instead of saying “Trust us,”

I wanted people to see the difference.

The texture.

The irregularities.

The human touch in handwoven fabric.

Machine-made cloth is perfect — too perfect.

Handloom has life in it.

When a fabric is woven on a handloom:

  • Each thread is placed with intention
  • Slight variations make it unique
  • No two pieces are exactly the same

That imperfection?

That’s authenticity.

And I wanted Sawomi to become a brand that educates before it sells.

Why This Matters for the Future of Handloom

India has a rich handloom heritage. But today, many customers can’t differentiate between:

  • Powerloom
  • Machine-made
  • Authentic handloom

If we don’t educate buyers, the real artisans suffer.

Sawomi is not just about building a brand.

It’s about building awareness.

It’s about protecting the dignity of handmade products.

It’s about reminding people that when they buy handloom, they’re not just buying fabric — they’re supporting a legacy.

What’s Next for Sawomi?

The journey after finding the name was about finding our purpose.

And our purpose is clear:

  • To build an honest handloom brand
  • To create awareness about authentic weaving
  • To document the real process
  • To grow step by step — transparently

The 90 Days Challenge was just the beginning.

Because Sawomi isn’t built overnight.

It’s woven — just like handloom — patiently, thread by thread.

And this time, we’re not just building a brand.

We’re building trust.
